As part of the BW28 campaign to activate 5 theaters by the 2028 Olympics, Broadway West has signed its third theater, The Globe Theatre to the Broadway West Theater Alliance.
The Globe Theatre joins a blockbuster roster of theaters that include The Million Dollar Theater and the United Theater on Broadway. The Broadway West Theater Alliance (BWTA) intends to bring together all 19 prospective historic theaters along the Broadway corridor and across Downtown Los Angeles to create a body that advocates and supports the creation of a theater district in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles. Members get special coverage and benefits as part of the alliance in exchange for premier rates and access.
"Bringing the Globe Theatre into the Broadway West family is a major milestone in our efforts to unite and ignite the district in preparation for the 2028 Olympics. This will give us the rare opportunity to show the world that Broadway doesn't just live in New York, we have our own theater district right here in DTLA." says Chairman and Artistic Director Marcus Lovingood.
With the addition of The Globe, Broadway West is hoping to add the final two theaters to its roster by the end of the year, with talks underway to do just that. The next step would be a coordinated programming effort to activate the theaters with at least 6 shows per week, with every theater activated at the same time by the end of 2027.
"We're inching closer to the dream no one believed could happen. But as Walt Disney says, 'It's fun to do the impossible."'
